The Siruvani Reservoir was built by the Kerala Government with the purpose of meeting the drinking water requirements of the city of Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu). At the Siruvani Dam, one is greeted by two gateways on either side of the road across the dam are typical of the Kerala and Tamil architectural styles. The Kanjirapuzha Dam, a masonry earth dam built for providing irrigation to a Cultural Command Area (CCA) of 9,713 hectares (24,000 acres), is located 6 kms away from Resort but can be seen from Resort itself. The reservoir, which has three islands within it, also has an established commercial fisheries development programme operated by the Fisheries Department.
Construction of the dam, including the irrigation system, was started in 1961 at an initial cost of Rs. 3.65 crores (1954 price level) which was revised to Rs. 101.19 crores (1970 price level). The irrigation command was partially developed in 1980 with a total CCA of 8,465 hectares (20,920 acres). To complete the irrigation development in the entire command a new scheme titled "Extension, Renovation and Modernization (ERM) Irrigation Project" under the Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP) initiated by the Prime Minister of India, was approved by the Planning Commission in the year 2008 for an estimated cost of Rs 30.0 crore, to cover balance CCA of 1,247 hectare.

Parambikulam Tiger Reserve, which also includes the erstwhile Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary, is a 391 square kilometres protected area in Chittur taluk in Palakkad district of Kerala state, South India. The wildlife sanctuary, which had an area of 285 square kilometres (110 sq mi) was established in 1973. It is in the Sungam range of hills between the Anaimalai Hills and Nelliampathy Hills.Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary was declared as part of the Parambikulam Tiger Reserve on 19 February 2010.

The park also receives a significant amount of rainfall during the north-east monsoon between October and November.

The Malampuzha Dam was Completed in 1955, the Malampuzha Dam feeds the largest irrigation system in Kerala with a network of canals with a capacity of 115.06 m. This reservoir has the Western Ghats towering over it. Boating and fishing facilities are also available for the visitors.
